Bathroom Fittings Showroom and Dealer Store Design

If your brand sells through a bathroom fittings store, that space is where customers meet your product in person. It is used by homeowners, plumbers, contractors and architects choosing fittings and accessories, and each of them needs something different from it.

This guide explains how we approach a bathroom fittings store: what it has to do, the formats it can take, how to plan the layout and displays, and how to repeat it across locations. Studio MINIM is an Ahmedabad studio, also working in Vadodara and Surat, that works only with brands and businesses, never with individual dealers.

What a bathroom fittings store has to do

A dealer or franchise store has to sell every day, often run by a partner rather than the brand. So the format must be simple to build, easy to keep up and clear enough that the brand reads the same in a metro flagship and a small-town store.

For a bathroom fittings store specifically, the space has three jobs:

  • Show many small products clearly without clutter.

  • Group fittings into collections so customers buy a matching set.

  • Show finishes, such as chrome, matt black and brushed gold, together.

Everything else in the design, from the layout to the lighting, should serve those jobs. When a store tries to do everything at once, it usually ends up showing too much and explaining too little.

Why this category is different

Bath products are chosen as a set and used with water, which makes context and demonstration more important than in almost any other category. A WC on a plinth or a faucet on a board tells a customer very little about how the bathroom will feel.

Bath spaces also need plumbing, drainage and waterproofing planned from the start, which affects where displays can go.

Formats

Most brands need more than one version of a bathroom fittings store, because sites, budgets and partners vary. A typical family of formats looks like this:

Brand display centre. Full collections, finishes and bathroom settings.

Dealer store format. Wall-based collection displays with a counter.

Shop-in-shop wall. A branded fittings wall in a multi-brand store.

We decide which formats you need from your sales channels and the sites you actually have, not from a fixed template. Sizes and costs depend on your range and market, so we set them during the brief, not in advance.

Layout and zoning

A good layout lets a visitor understand the space in a few seconds and find what they came for without help. For a bathroom fittings store, we usually plan these zones:

  • Collection walls: Each collection with its faucets, showers and accessories together.

  • Finish bar: The same product in each finish side by side.

  • Bathroom vignettes: Small bathroom settings using the fittings.

  • Plumber counter: Spares, cartridges and technical help.

The order of zones matters as much as the zones themselves. We plan the route so the strongest product moment is seen first, comparison comes next, and the counter or meeting area sits where a decision naturally turns into an enquiry or an order.

Display, materials and lighting

Display systems are where a bathroom fittings store succeeds or fails day to day. These are the elements we design most carefully:

Wall-mounted collection panels. Faucets and accessories at real height.

Finish comparison bar. All finishes in one row.

Drawer storage below. Stock and spares below displays.

Technical cut-aways. Show cartridges and valves.

Polished metal finishes reflect the light around them, so we light fittings to show their shape and finish without glare.

We prefer a calm background of walls, floors and joinery, so the product leads. Good colour rendering in the lighting matters in almost every category, because customers judge colour and finish by eye and then see them again at home or on site.

Mistakes we see often

These are the problems we look out for first when we review a bathroom fittings store:

  • Lining products up on shelves with no bathroom context.

  • Adding working displays late, when drainage and water points are hard to place.

  • Mixing finishes and collections so customers cannot find a matching set.

  • Lighting white ceramic and metal finishes with harsh or coloured light.

Rolling it out across dealers

Once a format works in one store, the next challenge is repeating it across many partners without the brand drifting. That needs a clear set of drawings, approved finishes, display modules and a planogram that local contractors can follow.

Fittings walls repeat well across dealer stores because they are compact and modular.

See Multi-Store Retail Rollout for how we turn a format into a manual and support it across many sites.

Taking it to exhibitions

Trade fairs and expos are often where dealers and architects first meet a brand. The stall should feel like the same brand they will find in the store, so the design language travels from one to the other.

Fittings need close viewing, so expo stalls should allow people to handle products.

See Exhibition Stall Design for how we plan, design and deliver stalls.

Questions to answer before you start

Before any drawing, we work through a few questions with your team, because the answers shape a bathroom fittings store more than any style decision:

  • Who are the main visitors: homeowners, plumbers, contractors and architects choosing fittings and accessories?

  • Which products must always be on display, and which can live in samples, catalogues or screens?

  • How many locations will follow this one, and who will build and pay for them?

  • What should a visitor be able to do on their own, and where do they need a salesperson?

Our experience

We have designed 40+ dealership stores for Qutone and its brands, including Dimore Windows and Dimore Surfaces, and 10+ exhibition spaces for SPECTA, Dimore and Qutone, including the SPECTA Tiles stall at Design Democracy Hyderabad.

We have not yet designed a bathroom fittings store. We bring our dealership, showroom and exhibition experience to it: how to repeat a format across many partners, how to make products easy to compare, and how to give a brand one recognisable look in every city.

We only share real projects. We do not publish figures, sizes or costs we cannot stand behind, and we set those with you during the brief.

How we work

  • Brief and site visit: We understand your brand, range, customers and partner network, and visit the site or a typical store.

  • Concept: We propose the layout, zoning and design language, with key views and materials.

  • Design development: We detail displays, joinery, lighting, signage and finishes.

  • Drawings and documentation: Working drawings, and for rollouts a manual partners and contractors can follow.

  • Execution support: Site visits and reviews with your contractors and vendors until the space opens.

Frequently asked questions

How do we stop a fittings store looking cluttered?

Group by collection, give each collection its own panel and keep stock in drawers below.

Should finishes be shown together?

Yes. A finish bar lets customers choose finish first and collection second.

Do plumbers need their own area?

A counter for spares and technical help keeps plumbers loyal to the brand.

Have you designed fittings stores?

We have not designed a fittings store yet. We bring our dealership experience from 40+ stores for Qutone and its brands.
